FCJE regrets diplomatic crisis between Israel and Spain in statement

The Federation of Jewish Communities in Spain (FCJE) said in a statement that it regrets the current diplomatic crisis between Spain and Israel, which represents the most delicate moment since 1986, the year in which both countries established diplomatic relations.

“This situation adds to the rise of antisemitism in Spain and the world to levels unseen in recent decades. That’s why we appeal to responsibility and urge the recovery of diplomacy as a means of understanding between two friendly and allied countries.

The four decades of bilateral relations between Spain and Israel have brought significant benefits to both countries and their citizens, as well as the strengthening of Jewish life in Spain.

It is not permissible to question a country that is fighting for its survival and combating the most savage terrorism.

We must not allow the fight against terrorism to be diluted among other arguments.”
