Man who incited people to take up arms against the Jewish community was arrested in Melilla

The Spanish National Police arrested a man in Melilla for inciting an “uprising in arms” against the Jewish community.

The arrested individual, described as “extremely radicalized” by the police, was found compiling a list of specific targets, predominantly businesses owned by Jewish individuals.

According to the police, he is alleged to have committed crimes including glorifying terrorism, inciting terrorist actions, and self-indoctrination for terrorist purposes.

The police have handed him over to the Central Court of Instruction Number One of the National Court, which has overseen the operation and ordered his imprisonment.

This arrested individual has a history of accusations against the Jewish community of Melilla. In October 2023, he both incited and participated in an assault on the city’s main Jewish temple, the Or Zaruah Yamin Benarroch Central Synagogue.
