FCJE condemns calls for student strike against “Zionist Genocide” in Malaga

Documents circulated in at least three institutes in the province of Málaga calling for a student strike under the slogan “Stop the Zionist genocide against the Palestinian people.”

The Federation of Jewish Communities in Spain and the Platform Against Antisemitism strongly condemned the antisemitic incidents taking place in universities, high schools, and schools across the country in an official statement.

“There are children who are afraid to say they are Jewish or Israeli in their schools.

Some children are insulted and harassed on the street because they are Jewish or Israeli.

There are teachers who use classrooms to discuss the conflict with a biased perspective.

Pamphlets against Israel circulate in high schools and schools, and gatherings are being organized in the educational environment with slogans that criminalize an entire country.

It is very dangerous and intolerable to indoctrinate the most vulnerable sector of society in the school environment.

Therefore, we demand responsibility and strong stances against antisemitism and hate speech against Israel from educational and political authorities, teachers, and families.

It is necessary to protect young people from harassment, marginalization, and social exclusion.”
