Halev Stuttgart Youth Center wons the 21st Jewrovision contest

Halev Stuttgart Youth Center won the 21st edition of the Jewrovision contest in Hannover.

Dr Josef Schuster, President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, presented the winner’s trophies at the conclusion of Europe’s largest Jewish dance and song competition.

In second place was We.Zair Westfalia, with JuJuBa from Baden securing third. Additional awards were presented for the best video (Halev Stuttgart), best lyrics (Emet Nuremberg & Am Echad Bavaria), best vocals and performance (both JuJuBa from Baden), and best stage design (Amichai Frankfurt).

The theme of the show was “Time to Shine.” The message from the youth was clear: We refuse to be subdued. We embrace our Jewish identity. We confront antisemites, conspiracy theorists, and radical enemies of democracy with determination. Many of the Jewish youths have faced exclusion and discrimination since October 7th, even within their own social circles. Jewrovision is not just a musical extravaganza but also a powerful signal to the youth that they are not alone.

The show acts were evaluated by a jury comprising, among others, singer Mike Singer and Mateo from Culcha Candela, singer Kim Gloss, actress Susan Sideropoulos, radio host Masha from Jam FM, music producer Ilan Schulz, as well as Daniel Botmann from the Central Council’s management and Nachumi Rosenblatt from the Jewish Social Welfare Organisation’s youth department.

Internationally renowned Israeli pop star Stephane Legar was celebrated as a special act.

The hosting trio, Joelle Abaew, Jackie Attar, and Maxim Kuperman, guided the show.

Hannover’s Mayor Belit Onay welcomed over 2,500 spectators.

This marked the 21st edition of Jewrovision, the first time hosted in Lower Saxony.

Dr. Josef Schuster, President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, concluded Jewrovision 2024 by saying, “Jewro is filled with tears, prayers, meals, arguments, dances, and much more. It’s like a family reunion. All participants have accomplished something extraordinary and leave with a sense of elevation. My special congratulations go to the winning team, Halev Stuttgart.”

Jewrovision was initiated in 2002. Since 2013, the Central Council of Jews in Germany has been organizing Jewrovision, held in different cities each time.
