Exhibition in the Wannsee Conference House about antisemitism vandalised

An antisemitism exhibition in the House of the Wannsee Conference memorial and educational center was damaged.

Two posters from the week of action against antisemitism were scratched and torn with a sharp object. A poster was completely torn from the wall. The damage was reported to the police and documented at the Antisemitism Research and Information Center (Rias).

“It is striking that two posters that address Israel-related antisemitism were scratched and torn,” says curator Ruth Preusse. “We suspect that the destruction was intended to be targeted here in connection with the war in the Middle East.”

The Wannsee Conference took place on January 20, 1942 in the Villa on the Great Wannsee at the invitation of Reinhard Heydrich, head of the Reich Main Security Office. The topic of the discussion between representatives of the SS, the NSDAP and several Reich ministries was the “Final Solution to the Jewish Question” planned by the National Socialists. The conference is considered the starting point for the systematic persecution and murder of European Jews
