Zentralrat criticized the German government’s decision to resume funding to UNRWA

The Central Council of Jews in Germany has criticized the German federal government’s decision to resume payments to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

“The resumption of German payments to UNRWA comes as a surprise and is incomprehensible to me,” said Central Council President Josef Schuster. “The United Nations report, which is thin in terms of content and cannot even rule out the organization’s involvement with terrorists, is an inadequate basis for further financing.”

An investigative commission led by former French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna came to the conclusion that UNRWA had “problems in maintaining neutrality.” However, Israel must provide evidence to support its accusations.

According to Israel’s findings, more than 30 UNRWA employees were directly involved in the Palestinian terrorist organization’s massacres in which 1,200 people were murdered in southern Israel. The terrorists took 250 people hostage. They raped and burned many of their victims.
