The Swedish government has decided that the Swedish National Agency for Education will be tasked with surveying antisemitism in the country’s schools. This assignment is supported by both the Forum for Living History and the Segerstedt Institute, both of which have deep knowledge in the field.
The purpose of the survey is to investigate the experiences of children, students, and school staff regarding contemporary antisemitism attitudes and incidents. An important and decisive part of the assignment is also to submit proposals for continued efforts to counter antisemitism in schools.
Therefore, the government is increasing assignments to both the Forum for Living History and the Segerstedt Institute at the University of Gothenburg. The government has also decided on new subject plans for upper secondary school, where antisemitism is an important component. All of these measures have been called for by the teaching profession and Jewish civil society.
