Judge Joaquín Gadea has commenced preliminary proceedings against an event organised by Podemos in Parliament, where the terrorist attack by Hamas against Israeli civilians was described as “brave.”
The magistrate has accepted a complaint, leading to an investigation into the event orchestrated by Podemos members for potentially glorifying terrorism and causing humiliation to the victims. Such actions carry sentences of up to three years in prison.
The event, titled ‘Defense of Palestine and Criminalization in Europe,’ occurred on June 4, with activists invited by Podemos that defended the Hamas attack in Israel. Jaldía Abubakra, sponsored by Podemos, labelled the attack as a “brave initiative of the resistance.”
These remarks were made in the presence of Podemos’ general secretary, Ione Belarra, who described Abubakra’s speech as “very interesting” and expressed gratitude for her participation.
Jaldía Abubakra, spokesperson for the Masar Badil movement openly supportive of Hamas, made controversial statements during the event, asserting that “Israel has no right to exist” and expressing gratitude towards Hamas for reigniting the Palestinian cause.
The controversy escalated when it was revealed that the Masar Badil movement’s annual conference coincided with the anniversary of the Hamas attack.
