The 14-month-old daughter of a rabbi from Bron, near Lyon, was burned on Monday by white spirit in her pram.
During the night of Sunday to Monday, in the hall of a building where the grandmother of the child resides, the little girl’s pram was lacerated and sprinkled with the solvent.
The next morning, the grandmother put the child in the stroller without realising the situation. She walked for an hour and a half before realising that the girl had suffered from burns.
The rabbi, aged 35, has filed a complaint at the local police station and investigations are ongoing.
“We take this case very seriously. But, for now, it is still unclear whether this case is an act of antisemitism, a neighborhood quarrel or a gratuitous attack by thugs, ” said a source close to the investigation.
