CRIF condemns antisemitic and homophobic comments directed at the new French PM

The President of the Representative Council of French Jewish Institutions (CRIF) Yonathan Arfi condemned the antisemitic and homophobic comments directed at the new French Prime Minister.

“Gabriel Attal has barely been appointed Prime Minister, and he already has to, unsurprisingly, face a wave of homophobic and antisemitic comments on social media.

For the haters, it’s evidently primarily a Prime Minister defined by his sexual orientation or the origin of his name.

For those with republican ideals, he is simply a Prime Minister.

And that’s already a quite heavy responsibility. Good luck to him!”

The Union of Jewish Students of France (UEJF) has called for sanctions against X (formerly Twitter) after a wave of homophobic and antisemitic messages following the appointment of Gabriel Attal as Prime Minister.
