In the Italian Liberation Day marches in Milan and Rome, the Jewish Brigade was attacked and insulted by pro-Palestinian activists.

In Rome, pro-Palestinian groups confronted the Jewish Brigade, who were there to honour their fallen. The protesters threw objects, paper bombs, and insulted them. “Enough with the violence of those who justify another genocide today,” student collectives chanted to the Jewish Brigade.

“For months, our community has been subjected to continuous provocations, if not outright acts of violence, and today we had to demonstrate under escort,” emphasizes the president of the Roman Jewish community, Victor Fadlun.

“Those who shout today should open a history book” said UCEI President Noemi Di Segni.

In Milan, the Jewish Brigade was also targeted by pro-Palestinian protesters in Duomo Square, where some of them harassed and beat members of the Brigade.

“Slogans such as ‘Out with the Zionists from the procession’ and ‘You’re like Hitler’ were directed at the Jewish Brigade. Two protesters were stopped and taken to the police station, while a Brigade member was injured, fortunately not seriously.”
