Dozens of German professors sign open letter against antisemitism at universities

Dozens of scholars have signed an open letter against antisemitism at universities in Germany. The headline reads: “For Current Reasons: No Place for Antisemitism at Universities!”

“We, as educators at German universities and research institutions, stand unequivocally with our Jewish students and colleagues,” the letter states. “We will do everything in our power to ensure they can study and work safely at our institutions and that Jews in Germany can feel secure.”

The signatories condemn in the letter “antisemitic exclusion, the use of terror symbols, questioning the right of Israel to exist, any form of violence, and vandalism in university buildings.” The professors make it clear: “Therefore, it is also in our interest that antisemitism is condemned and, if necessary, punished at our institutions.”

The signatories include professors from universities across the country, including institutions like the Free University of Berlin, where there have been “protest camps” and occupations by terror supporters in recent weeks.
