EJC congratulates President Emmanuel Macron on his re-election

(Sunday, April 24, 2022) – The European Jewish Congress (EJC) expresses its warm congratulations to President Emmanuel Macron on his victory in today’s second round of the French presidential election.

According to exit polls Macron got 58.2% of the votes.

“President Macron’s win is a victory for sane and moderate politics,” Dr. Ariel Muzicant, EJC president said. “Today, mainstream and healthy democratic politics again defeated extremism and division.”

The EJC looks forward to continuing working with President Macron and his government on issues of concern to European Jews, especially the fight against rising antisemitism.

EJC takes part in commemoration marking 80 years since the deportation of Macedonian Jews

The Jewish community in the Republic of North Macedonia held commemoration ceremonies in the cities of Skopje, Bitola and Stip marking the 80th anniversary of the deportation of 7144 Macedonian Jews to the Treblinka death camp.
