President of the European Jewish Congress warns of escalation after Brexit

President of the European Jewish Congress (EJC) Dr. Moshe Kantor has called on European leaders to unite forces and act to prevent an escalation after the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union.

“Unfortunately, in the past we saw that a bad economic situation coupled with fears about immigration have led to discontent and conflict in Europe, and even to wars, and we call on world leaders to do everything to prevent a recurrence, which could have catastrophic global consequences” Dr. Kantor said.

“We hope that Brexit would not act as a driving force for ultra-nationalism and extremism across the continent and we urge European leadership to not let extremist parties use these events to further division, hate and racism.”
