Mein Bezirk: “Pro-Palestine camp a “disgrace for Austria”

Around 100 people gathered for a spontaneous rally in the Old General Hospital in Vienna. Tents were pitched, Palestinian flags were waved, banners were put up, and various antisemitic and terrorism glorification slogans were chanted.

The European Jewish Congress called on the University of Vienna to “take rapid action against those who engage in antisemitic rhetoric and glorify terrorist organisations on their campus.”

“We stand with the Jewish Austrian Students (JÖH); universities must be a safe place for Jewish students.”

President of the Jewish Community of Vienna (IKG) Oskar Deutsch is horrified by the “antisemitic terror campaigns”.

The protest on the campus of the University of Vienna is “a disgrace for the university, for Vienna and Austria.”

He also warned urgently about the consequences for the Jewish population: “This radicalisation can be life-threatening. This must be stopped immediately, if necessary by the police!”
