The European Jewish Congress regrets the decision of the German government to allow a deal between a German corporation and Iran amounting to a 100 million euro to build natural gas liquefaction plants in Iran.
While acknowledging German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s recent opposition to the deal, the European Jewish Congress continues to monitor a deal that breaks the European consensus of furthering stronger sanctions on Iran.
Based in Brussels, the European Jewish Congress is the representative umbrella organisation of national Jewish communities. It federates democratically elected national Jewish community organisations in over 40 European countries uniting 2.5 million Jews across the continent.
