SACC by EJC launches the EU-funded SAFE programme to educate youngsters on threat awareness and self-protection

The Security and Crisis Management Centre by the European Jewish Congress (SACC by EJC) has launched the SAFE programme to increase young people’s awareness of potential threats by providing them with tools and knowledge to strengthen their safety both online and offline.

SAFE is part of the EU-funded BADRI Project, led by the European Jewish Congress in partnership with IKG Wien, Faith Matters, and SACC by EJC. The platform is developed under the “BADRI – Bringing Awareness, Dialogue, and Resilience Improvement” project, funded by the European Commission through the CERV programme.

The primary goal of SAFE is to improve security awareness among young people, specifically ages 6-18, by providing resources such as brochures for students, teachers, and educational games. The platform promotes best practices for security awareness, offering age-appropriate content designed to empower young people and build resilience against attacks. It also targets a broader audience, including educators and parents, with a focus on training them to become multipliers of security awareness.

The SAFE web platform, available in English, Italian, Hungarian, and Slovak, categorises content into three age groups: 6-9, 10-14, and 15-18. The platform features gamified learning experiences to engage children in a stress-free, interactive environment, helping them to understand and adopt security practices effectively.

To support the platform’s rollout, Train-the-Trainer sessions are being held in Belgium, Italy, Hungary, and Slovakia. These sessions aim to strengthen the capacity of school directors, educators, and parents to promote security awareness and resilience among young people.

The digital platform’s methodology integrates existing best practices in resilience training, scenario-based simulations of antisemitic attacks, and collaborative learning techniques. A positive, stress-free approach ensures that children feel empowered and prepared to handle various situations.
