EU delegation to the UN discusses intensification of antisemitism in Europe

In the wake of a rise in the number of antisemitic incidents, especially in Europe, UN ambassadors from the European Union met to discuss the issue at the headquarters of the EU delegation to the UN. Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon also took part in the meeting.

In February, increases in antisemitic episodes were reported in both Germany and France.
Recommended by the German government reported a sharp increase in antisemitic events in 2018, with a 60% rise in physical attacks.

French politicians also noted the rise of occurrences with French Interior minister, Christophe Castaner, saying antisemitism is “spreading like poison”.

“A radical and hate-filled minority wants to lead Europe into a dark and troubling era, and it is our moral duty at this time is to join forces and act together against modern day antisemitism,” said Ambassador Danon. “the fight against antisemitism is a struggle for the very future of Europe,” the ambassador concluded.
