Aliyah from France on the rise, according to the Jewish Agency

Requests for the opening of immigration files in Israel by French Jews increased sharply following the coronavirus pandemic, explained Shai Felber, vice-president of the Jewish Agency, responsible for immigration and integration, during a conference.

“Some 1,000 files were opened last May, compared to only 275 in 2019 during the same period,” said the official. The increase would thus be 400%.

“People not only express an interest in immigration, but they also act,” he said. According to him, the percentage of people who will immigrate among those who have opened a file will be 60 to 80%.

The increase between spring 2019 and 2020 is estimated to be 23% in South America, and 50% in North America.
