JERUSALEM POST: EJC outraged over charges against rabbi for circumcision

The charges laid against German Rabbi David Goldberg for performing a circumcision are “outrageous,” said European Jewish Congress (EJC) President Dr. Moshe Kantor on Wednesday.

The rabbi has been slapped with criminal charges of committing bodily harm, in the first known case to arise from an anti-circumcision ruling in May.

“The charges laid against a Jewish religious leader for performing a fully legal action is outrageous and a very troubling escalation sending a deeply problematic message to the Jewish community,” Kantor said.

“It has been many decades since a Jew was charged for practicing Judaism openly and is reminiscent of far darker times. We hope that in Germany, of all places, the authorities would remain far more sensitive to this issue” he added.

European Jewish Congress calls on EU and UN leaders to cease its one-sided Israel bashing that has direct consequences for Jews in Europe

“The constant flow of Israel-bashing by senior leaders in the EU and the UN with little to no criticism of Hamas terror is clearly the main contributory factor to huge growth in antisemitism recorded by all European Jewish communities since October 7 last year,” said EJC President Dr Ariel Muzicant.
