Der Standard: “EJC President highlighted the growing insecurity felt by Jews in Europe”

“Liberal democracies around the world are under pressure – including from antisemitism, said National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka, as he opened the conference and handed the floor to his Israeli counterpart, Amir Ohana, President of the Israeli Knesset and a party colleague of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Ariel Muzicant, former President of the Vienna Jewish Community and current President of the European Jewish Congress, also highlighted the growing insecurity felt by Jews in Europe, noting that people are questioning whether they have a future in Europe.

‘I recognise Wolfgang Sobotka’s initiative and the nice words from previous speakers,’ said Muzicant.

‘Enough has been said. We need action. If nothing happens, Europe’s Jews will soon leave Europe.’”
