Woman arrested in antisemitic tweets probe in North Yorkshire

A woman has been arrested by police investigating the sharing of antisemitic posts on social media.

North Yorkshire Police said she was held on suspicion of displaying threatening, abusive or insulting written material with intent or likely to stir up racial hatred.

The force opened a hate crime inquiry connected to tweets shared on X, formerly Twitter, between 24 January and 18 February.

She remains in custody, police said.

Insp Nicola Colbourne, from the force, said: “We are following all available lines of inquiry and would ask anyone who has any information that could support our investigation to please come forward.”
