Sky News anchor fired after comparing Gaza to the Holocaust

Sky News anchor Belle Donati has left the network after comparing the situation in Gaza to the Holocaust during an interview with Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon.

Sky News declined to renew Donati’s contract following her comments. The remarks also prompted a public apology from the British network, although Donati herself did not issue one.

During the interview with Danon, Donati compared a suggestion he made to the “resettlement” of Jews during the Holocaust. Following the incident, Donati did not appear on air again, and Sky News later issued an apology.

In a statement from the network, a Sky News anchor said: “During an interview earlier today with Israeli politician Danny Danon, a Sky News anchor made a comparison between Mr Danon’s remarks regarding Israel’s war with Hamas and the treatment of Jews during the Holocaust. Sky News acknowledges that this comparison was entirely inappropriate and recognises the offensive nature of the remark. Sky News unreservedly apologises for the comparison and to Mr Danon himself.”

Sky News declined to comment further on the matter, and Donati has yet to issue a response.
