Former President of the Turkish Jewish community Yakup Barouh succumbs to COVID-19

Turkish Jewish leader Yakup Barouh has succumbed to the coronavirus. He was 75 years old.

Mr. Barouh served as President of the Turkish Jewish community between 1991 and 1992 and volunteered for many communal institutions throughout his life.

He was also one of the pioneers of the Turkish advertising industry, writing the first MBA disertation in Turkey on the topic of advertising, and establishing his own advertising agency and becoming one of the industry’s leaders. He also served as Turkish Representative for the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and worked in favour of developing of trade relations and cooperation between Hong Kong and Turkey.

Mr. Barouh is survided by his wife, daughter, son and four grandchildren.
