Five men sentenced for violence against Israeli supporters in Amsterdam

Five men were sentenced by an Amsterdam court for acts of violence and complicity in violence against Israeli football supporters in November 2024.

The Amsterdam public prosecutor found the men guilty of various offences, ranging from kicking Maccabi Tel-Aviv supporters in the street to inciting violence in online chat groups.

The court issued sentences of six months, ten weeks, and one month in prison, along with a sentence of 100 hours of community service.

Sefa Ö, 32, received the heaviest sentence for chasing, pushing, and hitting several Israeli supporters, including one individual who was already on the ground unconscious, as shown in footage presented at the hearing.

On the night of 7-8 November, supporters of the Israeli club were chased and beaten in the streets of Amsterdam following a football match against the local team Ajax. Five people were briefly hospitalised, and several dozen reported injuries.
