Swiss Jewish activist calls on UN Human Rights Council to adopt definition on antisemitism

Swiss Jewish activist Anita Winter called on the United Nations Human Rights Council and its members to adopt the working definition of antisemitism recently adopted by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance and other governmental bodies.

Speaking at the Council’s 32nd session in Geneva, Winter said that the working definition “critically includes the predominant contemporary form of anti-Jewish hatred: virulent anti-Zionism.”

She also called on the UN to recommend to member States to appoint special coordinators in charge of fighting antisemitism and racism.
