Swiss Federal Council increases financial support for minorities whose security is threatened

On April 13th 2022, the Swiss Federal Council decided to increase the financial support for minorities with special security needs.

From 2023 onwards, the Confederation will provide a total of CHF 2.5 million per year.

The Swiss Jewish Community (SIG) and the Platform of Liberal Jews in Switzerland (PLJS) consider this new resolution by the Federal Council to be appropriate and constructive.

The funding will provide the community with new resources to support comprehensive measures  for securing their facilities.

According to the Swiss Jewish Comunity, the new resolution contributes substantially to support the security costs of their facilities.

“This is an important step. By sending this positive and necessary signal, the Confederation is expressing its support for Jews and other minorities under particular threat in their efforts to ensure their security” said SIG President Ralph Lewin.
