A new book published by the Swiss Jewish Community (SIG/FSCI) sheds light on the presence of Jews in French-speaking Switzerland presenting unpublished information on the history of Jewish communities and on the richness of Jewish life in French-speaking Switzerland.
SIG/FSCI published the new volume of the collection “Contributions on the history and culture of the Jews in Switzerland”: “Albert, Esther, Liebmann, Ruth and the others. Jewish Presences in French-speaking Switzerland” was edited by Francine Brunschwig, Laurence Leitenberg, Marc Perrenoud and Jacques Ehrenfreund.
This volume, of almost 600 pages published by Éditions Alphil, brings together the articles of 26 authors and addresses unpublished subjects.
“Albert, Esther, Liebmann, Ruth and the others. Jewish Presences in French-speaking Switzerland” is the 20th volume of the Collection “Contributions to the history and culture of Jews in Switzerland” published by the SGI.
Appearing since 1992, this collection aims to promote knowledge and understanding of Jewish life in Switzerland. Whether it is the history of Jewish communities, the architecture of synagogues or the situation that Swiss Jews and Jews experienced during the Second World War – the richly illustrated volumes published in the SGI/FSCI collection trace the historical development and provide an overview of the history, culture and traditions of the lively Jewish community established in Switzerland.
