Basel Canton commissions SIG to manage the regional antisemitism registration office

Basel-Stadt Canton commissions the Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities (SIG) to take over the management of the regional antisemitism registration office. The mandate runs as a pilot from 2023 to the end of 2024.

This will bring together in organizational terms the Basel-Stadt reporting office for antisemitic incidents and the one that has been run by the SIG for years.

The management of the reporting office and the processing of cases will henceforth be taken over by a specialised SIG expert. In addition, synergies can be created in the nationwide evaluation of antisemitic cases.

The mandate also includes counselling the persons affected by Antisemitism and the statistical recording of these cases.

Finally, an annual report will be drawn up on cases and reports specifically related to Basel.

The SIG is pleased that the Canton of Basel-Stadt has placed this trust in its expertise and is committed to cooperation. The association also sees this mandate as a confirmation and appreciation of the work of its own reporting office and its many years of effort in this area. The synergy effects to be achieved, especially in the flow of information and analysis at the national level, should not be underestimated.
