Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson: “Antisemitism is a disgrace to our country”

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson wrote an op-ed for Svenska Dagbladet about the current rise of antisemitism in his country and the measures taken by his government to combat it.

“Jews in both Sweden and other countries are currently experiencing a wave of antisemitism – one of “history’s oldest and worst plagues” said the Swedish Prime Minister.

Kristersson mentions several measures from the government’s side, including that the Forum for Living History is commissioned to carry out an attitude survey on antisemitism in Sweden.

The Prime Minister calls on all parties, religious congregations and civil society to act, and writes that the situation has become worse after the Hamas attack on 7 October.

“Security has become the great freedom issue of our time and the security situation for Jewish congregations and organizations is acute.”
