Malmö Imam who called Jews “offspring of monkeys and pigs” charged with incitement

An Imam in Malmö who called Jews “the offspring of monkeys and pigs” during a sermon has been charged with incitement to hatred.

“Everyone hears and sees exactly what the West takes for granted, what their masters the Jews, the descendants of monkeys and pigs, the enemies of Islam and Muslims, dictate to them,” said Imam Basem Mahmoud, during a sermon at the al-Sahaba basement mosque in the Malmö neighbourhood of Rosengård in October 2020.

The sermon was later posted on his own youtube channel and drew the attention of local media. In his sermons, he has also stated that the West “conspires against Muslims” and that he does not believe in Covid-19.

In questioning, Imam Mahmoud denied any wrongdoing and claimed that he was quoting the Koran. He has also said in questioning that the statement “applies only to some Jews” who “existed once”.

Mahmoud, also known as Abu Hamza, has also claimed that Swedish schools and social services are the most corrupt of all institutions in Sweden, and that they participate in the “theft of Muslim children.”
