Council of Swedish Jewish Communities welcomes Swedish Parliament’s decision to criminalise Holocaust denial

The Official Council of Swedish Jewish Communities welcomes the Riksdag’s decision to approve the government’s proposal for a clearer provision on incitement against ethnic groups.

The change in the law means that the denial of the Holocaust and certain other international crimes are explicitly criminalised. Additionally, individuals belonging to protected groups are granted plaintiff status and the right to damages.

The Official Council of Swedish Jewish Communities endorsed the proposed changes to the law in its consultation response in September 2023.
