The city of Toledo celebrates the 26th European Day of Jewish Culture, together with the rest of the cities that make up the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters – Paths of Sepharad. Under the slogan ‘Memory’, the aim is to open the Jewish quarter of Toledo to the world.
“From the City Council of Toledo, in collaboration with different institutions, we are going to carry out a cultural programme, which highlights the importance of Sepharad and Jewish culture in our country. A guided visit to the Jewish quarter of Toledo is planned, which includes the synagogues of Samuel ha-Levi and Santa María la Blanca” said the Councillor for Tourism, Housing and Relations José Manuel Velasco.
The councillor pointed out that Toledo has one of the most important Jewish quarters in Spain, with the “economic, touristic, cultural and social” importance that this means for the city.
Toledo is part of the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters – Paths of Sepharad, an association made up of municipalities whose medieval sites have a historical, artistic, environmental and cultural heritage, a legacy of the Jewish communities that inhabited them.
