Officers from the Provincial Information Brigade of the National Police in Madrid, responsible for the investigation, are searching for a man with a neo-Nazi appearance as the suspected perpetrator of an attempted arson attack using petrol on a Jewish restaurant located in the Chamberí district of Madrid, police sources told Europa Press.
According to a statement from the regional authorities, the incident took place shortly after 10 p.m. at the Rimmon Kosher restaurant, located at 37 Viriato Street. At 10:39 p.m., an individual entered the establishment and doused the entrance with a liquid with “a strong smell of petrol,” intending to “set fire to and burn down the premises,” which was “crowded” at the time.
The swift response of the restaurant staff prevented the fire, and no casualties were reported. However, the perpetrator managed to flee the scene.
The National Police quickly arrived at the location, and the owners have filed a complaint, hoping the suspect will be apprehended as soon as possible.
