Spanish Jewish community thanks government for endorsing IHRA definition of antisemitism

The Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain (FCJE), the country’s EJC affiliate, has thanked the Spanish government for confirming it endorses the working definition of antisemitism of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA).

Following a meeting with FCJE President Isaac Benzaquén, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Cortes and Equality Carmen Calvo confirmed that the Spanish government endorses the IHRA working definion of antisemitism, following the recommendations of the European Council Declaration on the fight against antisemitism and the development
of a common security approach to better protect Jewish communities and institutions in Europe.

Mr. Benzaquén met Ms. Calvo in the framework of a round of scheduled meetings with major confessional organisations in the country.
