Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain presented its 2025 Antisemitism Report at the Spanish Senate

The Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain (FCJE) presented its 2025 Antisemitism Report at the Spanish Senate, alongside an overview of the current situation in 2026.

The event was attended by Senate President Pedro Rollán, who reaffirmed his commitment to combating antisemitism, which he described as one of the major challenges affecting Spanish society.

FCJE President David Obadia outlined the sharp increase in antisemitism in Spain since 7 October 2023 and described the impact on Jewish communities across the country. He also called on the authorities to support efforts to report antisemitic incidents and ensure that perpetrators are held legally accountable.

The event was attended by several senators and Israel’s Chargé d’Affaires, Dana Erlich. The findings of the 2025 Antisemitism Report, compiled by the Observatory on Antisemitism and supported by the FCJE and the Movement against Intolerance, were presented during the meeting.

The FCJE also highlighted concerns that the upward trend in antisemitism has continued in 2026. Examples cited included boycotts targeting individuals and institutions associated with Israel, antisemitic chants on television programmes and in sporting environments, and recent comments by Youth Minister Sira Rego expressing support for a “free Palestine from the river to the sea”.

The presentation highlighted the continued need for public authorities and institutions to address antisemitism and ensure that Jewish communities can participate fully and safely in public life in Spain.
