FCJE president Isaac Benzaquén attends state ceremony in memory of Covid-19 victims

The President of the Federation of Jewish communities of Spain (FCJE), Isaac Benzaquén, attended the State ceremony in memory of the victims of the Covid-19 at the Royal Palace of Madrid on July 16, 2020.

The ceremony, presided by H.M. King Felipe VI, was held in the presence of representatives of the Spanish government and the Royal family and paid tribute to the approx. 28,400 victims of Covid-19 in Spain, according official figures.

Stressing the ecumenical character of the ceremony, representatives of Spain’s major religions occupied a special place. The FCJE, the country’s EJC affiliate, is the representative organisation of Jewish communities in Spain.

The ceremony, also counted the participation of the entire Government, all of the presidents of Spain’s regions and autonomous cities, representatives of European institutions and the diplomatic corps accredited to Spain.
