The Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain (FCJE) condemned the attack suffered by a Spanish tourist in Berlin and expressed its “solidarity” with his family and friends, as well as its wish for a “swift recovery.”
“This attack once again highlights the danger faced by both Jews and non-Jews in Europe, as the terrorist’s motivation was clearly antisemitic,” emphasised the FCJE, which based its statement on documentation seized by the police from the assailant and the location where it occurred: “In the vicinity of the Holocaust Memorial in the German capital, which pays tribute to the memory of the 6 million European Jews murdered by the Nazi regime.”
Once again, the FCJE urged the authorities to “intensify measures of attention, protection, and security, because terrorism, even when directed at Jews, acts against all citizens, against freedom, and against democratic values.”
