Romanian Minister of Agriculture compares incineration of pigs to the Holocaust

Romanian Minister of Agriculture Petre Daea compared the incineration of pigs to the Holocaust, while explaining measures required to isolate African swine fever in a Romanian meat processing facility, where 45.000 animals had to be sacrificed. “All pigs are incarcerated. It’s an extraordinary work, it’s like Auschwitz…”, said the Minister.

In response to Daea’s statement, Members of the political parties USR and PNL demanded his resignation in an official post on the ‘Mişcarea România Împreună’ website: “It is inadmissible for a minister of the Romanian Government to compare the incineration of pigs with the Holocaust, a worldwide tragedy condemned by Romania. The statement by the Minister is unacceptable, and we therefore ask for his resignation or his urgent dismissal. There are cases where  such superficiality may be amusing, however this statement shows an utter lack of judgement from the Minister’s side.”
