Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and with millions of Jews across the world unable to celebrate the High Holidays with their families in their usual synagogues, it was with great joy and satisfaction that the Jewish Community of Lisbon (CIL), Portugal’s EJC affiliate, was able to bring together a congregation of almost two-hundred people who were present and took part in the religious services performed at the Shaaré Tikvá Synagogue and at the Hotel Fénix, in strict compliance with social distancing restrictions.
“We are grateful for the fundamental support, trust and collaboration of all, which has enabled us to carry out these religious services with great success, security and tranquility,” read a statement from the Community.
