The upcoming Jewish Museum of Lisbon will be designed by Daniel Libeskind, the architect who designed the Jewish museum in Berlin.
Mr. Libeskind, a Polish-American architect has also designed the San Francisco and Copenhagen Jewish Museums, as well as Holocaust memorials in the Netherlands, Canada and the United States, and the reconversion of Ground Zero in New York.
The museum, which was planned for the Lisbon neighbourhood of Alfama and will finally be built in the neighbourhood of Pedrouços, will be a showcase of Portuguese Jewish life, both of the nation and the Diaspora.
