The Secretary General of the Council of Moroccan Jewish Communities, Serge Berdugo, has welcomed the initiative of King Mohammed VI to create a museum of Jewish culture in the country.

Calling the decision “absolutely extraordinary”, Mr. Berdugo said: “to create this place of memory in a city which is the cradle of Moroccan civilisation, where the imprint of Moroccan Judaism was the most marked, shows the wish of the king to see that all the currents which irrigated Moroccan civilisation should be present here,” Berdugo said at a ceremony launching work on the Al Batha Museum and construction of the museum of Jewish culture in Fez.
