Jewish community of Montenegro celebrates 10th anniversary 

The President of the Jewish Community of Montenegro Nina Ofner Bokan addressed a ceremony celebrating the 10th anniversary of the country’s Jewish community.

President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović and Ambassador of the State of Israel to the Republic of Serbia and non-resident Ambassador to Montenegro, Yahel Vilan addressed the audience via Zoom.

President of Israel Isaac Herzog also joined the event, sending a video message to wish a sweet and happy new year on the occasion of Rosh Hashana.

In the scope of this celebration, the 2021 edition of the European Days of Jewish Culture was launched for which the Jewish Community of Montenegro held two events, opened by Montenegro’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, prof. Dr.Vesna Bratić.

Inaugurated in France in 1996, the “European Days of Jewish Culture” aim to highlight the historical and cultural heritage of the Jewish people and to work towards strengthening communication and dialogue between cultures.

This cultural annual event is coordinated by the AEPJ (European Association for the Preservation and Promotion of Jewish Culture).
