Conference: Safer and Stronger Faiths in Montenegro

The Security and Crisis Center by EJC (SACC), together with the Jewish Community of Montenegro and the Conference of European Churches (CEC), organised a Conference entitled “Safer and Stronger faiths in Montenegro”. on 4 March 2022 in Podgorica.

Representatives of Christian, Muslim and Jewish communities gathered together to speak about the threats they are facing in. It is not the first time that four religious’ organizations in Montenegro work together. The aim is to facilitate communication between communities as well as to learn form each other’s experience and expertise in the area of security awareness of holy sites and places in Montenegro.

Nina Ofner Bokan, President of the Jewish Community of Montenegro, Dany Choueka, Head of Crisis Management SACC by EJC and Dr Elizabeta Kitanović, CEC Executive Secretary welcomed the audience as well as delivered opening remarks.

The following representatives also addresed the conference:

– Rifat ef. Fejzić, Reis of the Islamic Community of Montenegro,
– Mr. Metodije, diocesan bishop of Budimlja-Nikšić,
– Archbishop Igor Balaban, The Orthodox Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral
-Fr Janez Mirtek, the Rector and Parish Priest, Roman Catholic Church.
– Luciano Moshe Prelević, Chief Rabbi of Montenegro.

The Conference were attended by the members of the JCMNE, Islamic Community, Roman Catholic Church, the Orthodox Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral Podgorica as well as the representative of the Police Directorate of Montenegro
