Macedonia pledges education towards Shoah memory

The President of the Board of the Holocaust Fund of the Jews from Macedonia Pepo Levi and the Director of France’s Memorial de la Shoah Jaques Fredj, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MfC) related to education, research and remembrance between the two institutions in Skopje last week.

The signing ceremony of the MfC was in the presence of representatives from the Jewish community, state institutions, diplomatic corps, academic community and media, and was followed by the opening of an exhibition devoted to the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz–Birkenau concentration camp. The exhibition was realised with support of the Memorial de la Shoah, the Regional Council of Ile-de-France from Paris and the Memorial Centre of the Holocaust of the Jews from Macedonia.

The basic aims of the MfC are devoted to improving of the cooperation between the two institutions and, in particularly to promoting the education processes and to creating educational programs, the exchange of academic and educational experiences, research in archives etc. The cooperation activities will be realized through the organization of conferences, educational seminars and workshops, exhibitions and visits by target groups.
