The old synagogue and the Jewish cemetery of Ettelbruck open their doors

As part of the European Days of Jewish Culture and Heritage, in Ettelbruck, the old synagogue and the Jewish cemetery will be offered for visits by the non-profit organization Al Synagog Ettelbréck.

Organized simultaneously across the European continent in September, the European Days of Jewish Culture and Heritage are an opportunity to show the public the cultural and historical riches of Jewish heritage.

In Ettelbruck, the City “holds a unique heritage which testifies to Jewish life in Luxembourg”, explained in a press release the ASBL Al Synagog Ettelbréck: “a synagogue which survived the Nazi occupation, a building which housed the ‘Jewish school and a Jewish cemetery’ constitute a unique architectural ensemble.

On September 6, the non-profit organization will be offering guided tours of the old synagogue during which the results of surveys and archaeological excavations as well as the site restoration project will be presented. This visit will be followed by a guided tour to the Jewish cemetery in Ettelbruck.
