At the commemoration of the 79th anniversary of the liberation of Florence by Allied armies the President of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities Noemi Di Segni said that “keeping silent about the aberrations of the Shoah is equivalent to forgetting the immense pain of devastation. Fascism must be recognized as an absolute evil for the whole of Italy.”
“Italian responsibilities for war must be recognized, which are not only those of Nazi Germany,” Di Segni also said.
According to the president of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities, who spoke at the ceremony on the arengario of Palazzo Vecchio, “the commitment does not stop only at remembering evil and claiming truth but at remembering that Jews are not synonymous with Shoah and persecution but also of life, infinite culture and knowledge”.
