Chicago mayor visits Hungarian Jewish community

The mayor of Chicago Rahm Emanuel, visited the Federation of Hungarian Jewish Communities (Mazsihisz), the country’s EJC affiliate, last Tuesday.

He visited the Dohany Street synagogue, the cemetery garden and the Emanuel Memory Tree where he put a stone of commemoration for the 600,000 Hungarian Jewish victims of the Holocaust.

Emanuel was welcomed to Budapest by Mazshisz President Andras Heisler and by Hungary’s Chief Rabbi Dr. Robert Frölich.
