Jewish Community of Gibraltar calls on local government to adopt the IHRA working definition of antisemitism

The Managing Board of the Jewish Community of Gibraltar calls on local government to adopt the working definition of antisemitism of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance.

This follows the controversy surrounding past social media posts by Gibraltar general election candidate Youssef El Hana.

The Jewish Community says it has no issue with criticism of the State of Israel, and says it enjoys an excellent relationship and friendship with the Moroccan Community.

It says however that it abhors any Organisation whose declared aim is the destruction of Israel and the drowning of its people in the Mediterranean Sea.

A spokesperson says Mr El Hana has wished that all Israeli soldiers should die from brain tumours in slow and painful deaths.

The Community says it is in possession of at least over 50 similar comments which do not disappear overnight by virtue of a feeble apology.
