Police in Gießen have arrested a suspect following a fire outside a local synagogue.
Two rubbish bins were set alight in front of the building. Authorities report that the 32-year-old man is believed to have started the fire alone, although his motive remains unclear.
The blaze caused damage to a roller shutter and the synagogue’s entrance gate, but thankfully, no one was injured. Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and it is under review whether the suspect will be brought before a magistrate. The full extent of the damage has yet to be determined.
